Anita Saarkessian

Anita Sarkeesian is a Canadian-American feminist media critic and public speaking. Feminist Frequency was established by Sarkeesian. It hosts video clips featuring commentary and analysis of gender representations in contemporary culture. Anita Sarkeesian a Canadian American media critic. Feminist Frequency is a non-profit educational website which investigates representations of women in popular culture narratives. In her efforts to break down stereotypes of women that exist in pop media, she is also working to address issues relating to harassing women targeted by the media and different classes of individuals on the internet. Sarkeesian, who has an MA in Social and Political thought at York University, is a well-known public speakers. She has given speeches at TEDxWomen XOXO festival and United Nations Broadband Working Group for Gender. Feminist Frequency was launched in 2009 by Sarkeesian, an undergraduate student at York University who had been interested in issues that concern gender and feminism for a lengthy time. She was a young woman with a dream to develop an online series to examine the gender roles in games. However, she became victimized by online harassment. The attack did not deter her instead it was a boost to her determination as a feminist critic of media. Sarkeesian has been awarded numerous awards to recognize her notable contributions to the field of feministism. Anita Sarkeesian, a media critic who has won several awards and founded Feminist Frequency which is an educational non-profit that examines how women are represented in media narratives.
