Dolly-Parton

Dolly Parton, born Jan. 19, 1946 in Locust Ridge Tenn. to a poor family of twelve children, who would all grow up with them eventually. She learned early how to get out of the challenges she encountered through her large and vibrant imagination. In the beginning, before she learned to compose and read, she composed the music she composed herself. She bought her first guitar when she was just 8 years old and began her singing career on an Knoxville Tenn radio station at the age of 11. The same year she released her first album with Gold Band Records an independent small label. The singer established a name for herself locally while still in the high school system, but she wanted to be on of a bigger stage. The singer moved to Nashville the day after graduating in 1964. Her first charting hits from Monument Records included Dumb Blonde and Something Fishy both in 1967. Porter Wagoner, a syndicated TV show host at the time, was in search for a female singer for his show. Parton took the job in 1966. She was then signed to RCA Records in 1968, and the Grand Ole Opry was founded in the year 1969. She resigned in 1974. at the end of Wagoner's show due to the success of her individual songs, such as Joshua Coats of Many Colors or Jolene was surpassing their joint albums. Parton, after the split of their collaboration with Wagoner she wrote the song"I Will Never Love You and saw it climb to number. 1 for the very first time in 1974.
