Lee
Lee Roy Selmon's tale combines football scholarships for his family and service in the local community. First of all Selmon was raised by Lucious and Jessie Selmon on the farm close to Eufala in Oklahoma as one of their nine children. Also, he was one of three siblings who represented Oklahoma on the field of football. Three of them were All-Americans. Lucious Jr. Dewey, Lee Roy, and Lucious Jr. Dewey started the 1973 season. Lee Roy received the Outland and Lombardi Awards for being the best lineman of the United States. In his time as the Oklahoma's quarterback of choice and Sooners' starting quarterback, they went 32-1-1 and captured two national titles. Third scholarship he was named an National Football Foundation Scholar-Athlete in 1975. Selmon holds a bachelor's degree in educational studies. Lee Roy dedicated ten volunteer time per week throughout college. After graduation, he landed in Tampa played nine years with the Buccaneers played an all-pro three times before beginning his business career. His first job was as an Account Relations Manager at First Florida Bank, Tampa. He was a member previously for the Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. The Junior Chamber of Commerce honored him in 1982 as being one of the top 10 youths from the United States. Lee Roy was 6'2" tall and weighed 265 lbs in the time he played football at college. The year 1975 was the first time he was the captain of the squad. He joined University of South Florida in 1993 as an assistant director of sports. Selmon has been inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame since 1988. Parents, Lucious as well as Mary Selmon, Jr. were awarded the Distinguished American Award in 1989 from the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation.
